Anna is a Research Associate and Affiliated Lecturer in the Department of Social Anthropology whose work focuses on poverty, politics and development in Senegal. Her doctoral thesis, completed in the same department, studied two flagship welfare policies – a national cash transfer program and universal health coverage – by drawing on eighteen months of ethnographic fieldwork with recipients living in a small informal settlement in the capital, Dakar. Her new research is focused on social housing in Dakar and arises from the ongoing eviction/resettlement of the site of her doctoral research. She is also the Knowledge Exchange and Funding Facilitator in the Social Anthropology department, working across knowledge exchange, impact, research environment and funding.
