Dr Emma Boland is a polar scientist and climate science communicator. After acquiring a PhD in Ocean Dynamics from the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge, Dr Boland has spent over a decade working at the British Antarctic Survey where she studies the polar oceans using computer models and machine learning techniques. Dr Boland is also active in public engagement, and has experience talking to a range of audiences from live television and radio to school children. Dr Boland is co-director of the AI for the study of Environmental Risks Centre for Doctoral Training, based at the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Cambridge.
