Professor Priya Gopal 

Professor Priya Gopal is a Professorial Fellow at Churchill.

Professor Gopal supervises and teaches undergraduates at Churchill College in the areas of Literary Criticism, Modern Tragedy, Nineteenth-century and Modern British literature, as well as Postcolonial and Related Literatures.

Research Interests:
My primary interests are in colonial and postcolonial literatures. I have related interests in British and American literatures; the novel; translation; gender and feminism; Marxism and critical theory; and the politics and cultures of empire and globalisation.

I am currently at work on a project called ‘Half the Story: Anti-Colonialism in the Making of Britain,’ which is funded by a Leverhulme Research Fellowship and will be on sabbatical leave until October 2014.

My work has also appeared in The Hindu, Outlook India, India Today, the Times Literary Supplement, The New Statesman and The Guardian and I’ve contributed occasionally to the BBC’s Start the Week and Newsnight as well as programmes on NDTV (India), Al-Jazeera, National Public Radio and Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
