Donor recognition
We appreciate each and every donation from our supporters.
Every donor is listed in the Churchill Review unless they have asked to remain anonymous, is sent a copy of our annual donor report, and will be invited to our biennial Donor Garden Party (note: UK taxpayers whose donations are Gift Aided must have donated more than £100 in the preceding two years).
All donations help make a difference and we are grateful for whatever you are able to give.
For donors who are in a position to donate higher amounts, the following details the level of benefit we can give back in return.
Leaving a legacy
All individuals who pledge, or indicate that they will give, a gift in their Will to the College, have the option to be a member of the Winston S Churchill 1958 Society. Each year, a Society event is held for members in appreciation of their commitment to the College. Member names (where permission has been given) are included in the list of the Winston S. Churchill 1958 College Society members, printed in the annual Churchill Review.
Education is good for the individual, and is an investment in society and the economy. Studentships help to make education a viable reality for everyone.

1960 Club
Named after the year of our foundation, the 1960 Club is open to all those who choose to make an annual gift of £1,960 (excluding gift aid) in support of the Winston Churchill Top-Up Bursary Fund.
Churchill is distinctive in having an unusually high number of undergraduates from very financially disadvantaged backgrounds. Contrary to other institutions, students from this group excel at Churchill. We attribute our success to the very close individual support we offer and the top-up funding they are receiving.
As a matter of urgent priority, we would like to continue to fund the top-up bursaries as the funding previously received for this initiative has ended.
1960 Club benefits
For each year of giving:
- Personal gift acknowledgement from the Master and notification of your gift to College Council
- Invitation to attend a special annual event
- Dedicated annual Winston Churchill Top-Up Bursary Fund newsletter/impact report for 1960 Club members
Those choosing to make a five-year gift at this level will also be eligible to join the Oak Circle which entitles members to attend the Oak Circle drinks reception and specially arranged annual dinner with the Master.
Oak Circle
All those who have donated £10,000+ in the preceding 5 years receive personal acknowledgement from the Master and their gift is recorded at College Council. They are also on the invitation list to a drinks reception a specially arranged annual dinner.
Patrons’ Circle
To recognise and thank donors who have given more than £25,000 in the preceding 5 years, in 2016 the College established the Benefactors’ board, which has pride of place outside the College Dining Hall. All those who give at this level are also on the invitation list to Fellows’ guest night.
Churchill is a really special place in the university, and any donations that could make college life more affordable and accessible will help students make the most of it for the time that they’re here.

Those who have donated more than £5million to the College received recognition as Winston S Churchill Fellows. They also receive recognition from the University (Campaign or Chancellor’s Medal).
The bursaries I have received have enhanced every aspect of my time at university and it is vital that future students continue to benefit from the same support to ensure their financial background does not affect the opportunities, experiences, and academic success they can have during their time at Cambridge.
