Congratulations to Churchill alumni — Professor John Deanfield (U&G69), Mr Oliver Benzecry (U80), Dr Carolyn Otley (U&G91), and Professor Catherine Green (U93), who have been named in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Professor John Deanfield (UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science) and Director, National Institute of Cardiovascular Outcomes Research, was awarded a CBE for services to the Prevention and Treatment of Heart Disease.
Oliver Benzecry, the Chairman of Accenture, UK and Ireland was awarded a CBE for services to the Economy.
Carolyn Otley was awarded an MBE for services to the community in Cumbria during Covid-19. Carolyn was chair of the Cumbria’s Community Resilience Group set up in response to the pandemic. She designed and implemented a county-wide structure linked to a network of community hubs and established a website to recruit and manage volunteers.
Professor Catherine Green was awarded an OBE for services to Science and Public Health. The award follows her significant contribution to the development of the Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine.
