The Churchill Business Network was set up in 2018 to promote networking amongst Churchill alumni, and since then has held several events in London focusing on specific sectors.
The events usually take the format of a talk, followed by questions and answers, and are personal to the career of the alumni speaking, rather than advertising the company they happen to work in. There is always an opportunity to chat over drinks afterwards.
As we aren’t able to host an in-person event until next calendar year, we are planning to host a virtual event in the autumn, and we encourage recently graduated Churchillians to join the network to hear about the speaker event when announced. As the labour market has been adversely affected by the pandemic’s economic consequences, we hope that if Churchill alumni do know of any paid internships or career opportunities they will use ChurchillConnect to advertise them. We hope the business network can be starting point for mentoring conversations between different generations of alumni.
Past speakers have included Liz Airey (U77), former Chair of Jupiter Asset Management; James Butler (U66), formerly of Zurich Insurance; Steve Churchhouse (G85), formerly of Rolls Royce; Michael Cowan (U70), Silchester Investors; Simon Henry (U79), formerly of PetroChina and now Lloyds Banking group; Peter Gershon CBE (U66), National Grid; David Marshall (U62), formerly of Rolls Royce; Jaini Patel (U93), UBS; John Sawtell (U91), GS.
Business Network events are kindly sponsored by Gregory Lock (U66), a Development Board member who is currently Chairman of Microfocus PLC.
